With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is fitting that I just had my first mammogram. I was scheduled to have my baseline 2 years ago (at age 35) but between the time I was told to schedule one and the actual phone call to do so, we found out we were expecting another baby and the test would obviously have to be put off.
Last week I had to have an SIS (Saline Infusion Sonogram) and a biopsy so my doctor figured it would be a great time to have that baseline done.
I'll be honest, even with several women in my family having a history with breast cancer I wasn't concerned. I don't see the point in being concerned beforehand. It's not like concern changes the outcome.
My mammogram came back looking normal. Thank you for the good news. See you in a couple years.
My SIS on the other hand did not produce the same results. Although it confirmed I don't have fibroids, it does appear that I have two large broad based polyps that are causing me so many problems. Endometrial polyps are considered "common" and are easily removed by D & C. I am not looking forward to the procedure but it could have been so much worse. Thank you for the good news. See you in a couple weeks.
